Suppose you are interested in graduate school in the next academic circle. Here are a few things you should consider. These few things I am putting out here are based explicitly on my few days stay in Chicago, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.

The first is the cost of living here is relatively cheap. You will be okay with the school funding, no matter how small it looks compared to other big cities.

Commuting is complex; a car becomes a necessity and not a luxury! For someone like me who lives in NYC, commuting is fun. If you live in NYC and you don't have a car, you will be fine. Brethren, if you live in this specific area I visited in Chicago, you need a vehicle, too. Although their public transport is as low as 0.25$ compared to NYC 2.99$ baby, the buses come every 40 minutes, I think!

Food is cheap and affordable. They have many affordable restaurants with great food. All the food I ate while here was far more inexpensive and fantastic compared to the prices we have in NYC.

If you are interested in a black-dominated environment, this place is for you. They have a strong sense of community.

It is also quite unlike NYC, where everyone is running and chasing after the buses and trains like my girlfriend does most of the time.

I love DeKalb, Chicago, but I wouldn't like to live here. NYC regardless
