Gunther Krause was born on September 3, 1953, in Halle, East Germany. He is a German engineer, professor, politician, and businessman.
Gunther Krause studied engineering and got his PhD from Wismar University of Technology in 1987. He started his career working in housing planning and later became a professor of computer science.
In 1975, Gunther Krause joined the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of East Germany. During the peaceful revolution, he helped in the reunification of Germany. Gunther Krause was one of the two men who signed the Unification Treaty between East and West Germany in 1990.
