Aant Jelle Soepboer studied at NHL Leeuwarden, where he trained to become a teacher in history and geography from 2006 to 2011. In 2010, while still studying, he started teaching at the Liudger Christian School Community in Burgum. He worked there as a history and geography teacher until 2020. During this time, Aant Jelle Soepboer also co-wrote a youth history book series called “Vet oud” (Super old).

Aant Jelle Soepboer interest in politics began when he spoke up to defend local traditions in Friesland. In 2017, he joined the Frisian National Party (FNP) and was elected as a municipal councillor in Noardeast-Fryslân in 2018, thanks to strong support from young voters. He worked on issues like housing for young people, protecting traditions, and fighting population decline.

In 2022, Aant Jelle Soepboer became party leader for FNP in the municipal elections. Under his leadership, FNP became the largest party in Noardeast-Fryslân, winning 8 out of 29 seats. He later became alderman, responsible for culture, environment, public spaces, and the Frisian language.
